For my birthday present, Eric took me on a week's vacation to Curacao, part of the old Netherlands Antilles - along with Aruba and Bonaire (the ABC islands).
Later in the week we had the beautiful yacht moored near the hotel.
Eric went scuba diving four days during our visit. On Friday we took the hotel van into the main city of Willemstad. It was sunny and hot and we enjoyed a few Heinekens while watching the large ships go in and out of the harbor. There is a floating pedestrian bridge that moves to allow the ships access.
This is part of the floating vegetable market.
One day we took a ride to the eastern side of the island. Its amazing how rough the seas were compared to where we were staying.
Every day the birds joined us on the balcony. Of course we were feeding them as you can see from the picture above. They loved the potato chips but hated the plantain chips.
This was the scariest of the birds.
Here are the picturesque buildings along the waterway. Below is a painting I did at least 20 years ago of the same buildings. Little has changed.
It was a great relaxing week. Thank you Eric.
